About Us

Our story, and why we need your help …

Simply put, it is easy to raise money for kids – we can measure positive outcomes – but what about seniors? None of them will grow up to become President, cure Alzheimer’s, or launch a great humanitarian cause. After decades of hard work, dreams found and lost, fighting for our freedom and raising families, many seniors find themselves in financial straits, personal isolation, and battling despair.

The Foundation for Senior Wellbeing has been helping address those needs by providing financial support in emergencies. However, we found that while there are many resources available, there are holes and perhaps a lack of comprehensive knowledge on how to help seniors AND THEIR FAMILIES in other areas of need.
For example, we recently spearheaded formation of a coalition of North County leaders to resolve some of the issues surrounding seniors revealed during last year’s devastating fires, including how to better identify stranded seniors, and to provide transportation and shelter that is suited to the needs of seniors. As a result, action has begun on potential legislation allowing senior residential care facilities the ability to provide shelter during a disaster, public outreach that will encourage neighbors to help their senior neighbors in an evacuation, and promoting public awareness of the 211 information line.
