TrueCare is hosting its annual Breast Milk Drive and Health Fair with Community Blood Drive. The breast milk drive is in partnership with TrueCare and the University of California Health Milk Bank, to provide safe, nutritious, pasteurized human donor milk to babies in need. Due to the recent baby formula shortage, human breast milk is in high demand and more important than ever. Breastfeeding mothers are encouraged to donate to the breast milk drive and all mothers, soon-to-be mothers, and caregivers are invited to attend the health fair, hosted by TrueCare, WIC, San Diego Blood Bank and Feeding San Diego along with other community partners. Attendees will receive free diapers, goodie bags for mothers and their babies, education and resources for breastfeeding and overall healthcare, dental screenings, COVID-19 vaccines, and free food. They may also donate blood. To donate breast milk, a 100-ounce minimum donation along with pre-registration are required at the University of California Health Milk Bank portal at https://uchealth.service-now.com/csp. Moms can conveniently get their blood screened (required before donating breast milk) at the bloodmobile on site at the health fair on Saturday, August 6, beginning at 9 a.m. To learn more about donating breast milk, moms may email ucmilkbank@health.ucsd.edu or call 858-249-MILK (6455).
